How to Create a Youtube Channel for Your Business

Do you want to start a YouTube channel, but don’t know how to create one?  Don’t worry, it's not too late, and better late than never! And in regards to YouTube growth, it's unparalleled when it comes to traffic, revenue, and other important factors. There are various great options for brands, regardless of the target audience or budget.

If you are new to this, don’t sweat it, as the process is relatively straightforward, and it will take only a few minutes to create a channel on YouTube that you can use to advertise and promote your business. Here is a guide to creating a YouTube channel for businesses of all shapes and sizes.

How to Create A YouTube Business Account

  • Create a Google account: Don’t use a personal account, just create a separate Google account for your business. This is the best way to manage a business YouTube account without involving your personal emails.

To create a Google account for your business, go to create a Google account, and follow the link. If you have a dedicated Google account for a business, no need to create one.

  • Create a YouTube channel: After logging into the dedicated Google account for your business, go to youtube.com, click on the profile or avatar in the upper right-hand corner, then select “My Channel” from the drop-down menu.

You’ll then see a page titled “brand accounts,” just enter the name of your business or brand, and click on “Create.” And if required, you can later change the name of your channel. Once you are directed to the next page, click on the customize channel.

  • How to customize your YouTube channel

There are three ways to customize your YouTube channel:

  1. Channel icon: The channel icon is where you add your company logo.  If you are the face of your company, put your headshot there. The dimensions for the image must be 800x800 px. To upload a channel icon image, hover over the channel icon and click the little pencil icon that appears.

  1. Channel art: This is a big rectangular area at the top of your YouTube channel, similar to the cover photo at the top of Facebook and Twitter pages. Your YouTube channel will function fine without channel art, but it’s a good idea to upload a picture to liven things up a bit, instead of going with the plain, boring default image.

For branding, try to use an image that represents your company to let your viewers know they’re in the right place. The dimensions for channel art are 2560x1440 px.

  1. About section: Keep your business’ “about section” simple by writing just a short paragraph about who you are and what services you offer. Make sure to keep it clear and concise by writing just a few short paragraphs about who you are and what you do. Be sure to use a few keywords to let people find you when they search on YouTube. Also, list your company website, email address, and social media sites to allow people get in touch with you.

  • Adding managers to your YouTube channel: If you have other assistants to manage your YouTube channel, add them as Managers by clicking on your profile in the upper right-hand corner and then select “settings” from the drop-down menu.  Click on “remove” or “add manager.” And then click on the “manage permissions” button.

The pop up will appear, click the icon in the upper right corner and add the email address of the person whom you’d like to invite to manage your channel. That’s all!!
